Our Company

Rush Street Consulting helps entrepreneurs build successful businesses. We provide critical insight and guidance at moments of transition and change.

We’re a Chicago-based consultancy taking inspiration from the spirit and history of Chicago’s iconic Rush Street. The history of Rush Street is one of evolution, innovation and renewal. We think those are exactly the attributes we offer our clients!

Rush Street History

The beginning

Rush Street began as a busy business street back in the 1800s. It was named after physician and patriot Benjamin Rush, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The little street led to the big shipping port along the Chicago River, where its swing bridge crossing the river was one of the city’s main bridges. So much was the commerce crossing this bridge, that huge crowds of people and carts backed up along the riverbanks whenever it was swung open to let ships pass through. Fast-growing Chicago was the ‘City of the Century’ and Rush Street played a vital role.

The roaring ‘20s

In the 1900s, commerce on the river gradually declined, and the beautiful Michigan Avenue Bridge was opened in 1920. So, beginning in the Roaring ‘20s, Rush Street transformed into a vibrant street of entertainment and nightlife. The street became home to many cabarets, bars, clubs and restaurants, where famous places like Mister Kelly’s featured America’s best comedians, musicians and singers. Many young performers nurtured their dreams and got their start on Rush Street too.

21st century

21st century

Now, in the 21st Century, Rush Street has been reinvented again. It’s now in one of the city’s wealthiest areas, a bright artery running through the heart of the Gold Coast. The street hosts luxury condominiums, five-star hotels, highly rated restaurants, and prominent bars that draw a local clientele and visitors from around the world. It’s still a place of striving and of dreams fulfilled, one of the liveliest little streets in America.
